Dry carbon fiber is manufactured by utilizing a pre-preg or impregnated sheet of carbon materials. The sheet is initially inserted into a mold and then placed in a sealed vacuum for proper curing. This method produces minimal waste and results in a lighter version of carbon compared to the « wet » method. The vacuuming process also reduces the formation of pinholes and air pockets in the carbon. Dry carbon is considered the premium grade of carbon fiber products, although it is 3 to 4 times more costly to produce than the wet method.
